How do dentures on implants work?

You are very welcome at Vast Gebit In 1 Dag to have dentures placed. The biggest difference with click dentures is that our fixed dentures are attached to implants in your mouth and therefore cannot be removed. The advantage of this is that you do not have to worry about the teeth becoming loose. The teeth stay nicely in place, allowing you to eat, talk and laugh with ease.

Below we explain step by step what the process looks like:

  1. The intake: During your first visit to our practice you will get to know us implantologist and we will examine your teeth and discuss the options with you.
  2. The treatment: If you choose to have dentures placed on implants, we will schedule a follow-up appointment. During this appointment we will place the implants, on which we attach a temporary bridge. This bridge will ultimately be replaced by your dentures, which will be manufactured in the laboratory in the meantime.

The intake

The first step is the intake. The intake helps us get a better idea of your dental situation and the options available to improve your teeth. During the intake we will examine your teeth digital scans. Based on these scans, our implantologist can determine how many implants are needed and where they will be placed.

In addition, we will discuss your personal wishes during the intake, so that we can produce dentures that are fully tailored to your preferences. Do you want completely white teeth? Or a 'normal' color? It's all possible. We will work for you based on your wishes.

The treatment

After the intake, the treatment follows. You may have unhealthy teeth that no longer function in the mouth. If this is the case, they will be pulled out first, creating space for the implants. We place these directly in the holes of the extractions.

The next step is to place the temporary bridge, which will eventually be replaced by the dentures. In most cases, this still has to be made in the dental laboratory. This is done based on the scans and your personal preferences.

The temporary bridge can be cemented or screwed. The advantage of screwing the bridge down is that it will not shift. The bridge is made of a sturdy material (acrylic). This ensures that you can still eat the same food.

Healing process of implants

After the implants are placed, your mouth will take about a month to heal. After your mouth has healed, you will come to our practice to have photos taken. These photos allow us to see whether and how well the implants have worked in your mouth. If everything looks good, it is time to remove the temporary bridge and place your permanent dentures on implants. The treatment is then completed and you can enjoy a beautiful, new smile!
